Obv. Head of young Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress.
Rev. ΦIΛΩ, eagle standing right on thunderbolt, head reverted.

Very rare. Nice green patina and good very fine.
This enigmatic issue has been attributed by Wartenberg to Philotas, father of Alexander's general Parmenion, who apparently was a local chieftain or minor king in Southern Macedon or Northern Thessaly. His coinage shows very close stylistic ties to the bronze coinage of the Thessalian city Skotussa (BCD 739), indicating that this was the area Philotas was operating in.
