Tenea (under the Achaean League), Achaia. AE Tetrachalkon (19 mm, 4.35 g), 191-146 BC.
Obv. KΛEAP/XOΣ, Zeus, nude, standing left, holding Nike in his right hand and long scepter with his left.
Rev. AXAIΩN TENEATAN, Female figure, Achaia, seated left, holding wreath in her right hand and long scepter with her left.
BMC -. BCD 74 (this coin). Clerk 94 corr. (misread as Tegea).

Extremely rare, one of very few known. Very fine.

Tenea was a small town south of Corinth with a famous sanctuary of Apollo. It struck a very small issue of Achaean League Tetrachalkoi and some provincial coins under the Severans, all of which are extremely rare today.
