 Krithote, Thrace. AE22 (6.32 g), c. 350-300 BC.
 Obv. Head of Demeter, hair in korymbos, facing slightly right.
 Rev. KPIΘO-ΣIΩN around barley grain; all within wreath.
 BMC 1; SNG Cop. 886 var. (head left).
 
 Extremely rare. Beautiful dark green patina. Good fine.
 
 Krithote was a small and unimportant town founded by Miltiades of Athens on the Thracian Chersonesos. Strabon reports that it lay in ruins in Roman time. The city minted only a few bronze coins in the second half of the 4th Century.
