Sicyon, Sicyonia. AR Stater (23-24 mm, 12.07 g), c. 360s/350s.
Obv. Chimaera walking left on ground line, right paw raised; ΣE below; monogram of ΔA in exergue.
Rev. Dove flying left with wings open; ΣIBYPTIO above; all within olive wreath.
Traité 779.
Very rare. Beautifully toned and good very fine.
From the BCD collection and ex LHS 96 (2006), 212.
Sibyrtios, who is named on the reverse, could either have been a magistrate or a die engraver. A very unusual phenomenon on Sicyon's silver coinage.
