Septimius Severus (193-211 AD). AE (28 mm, 14.48 g), Nikopolis ad Istrum, Moesia Inferior.
Obv. AVT Λ CEΠT CEVHPOC Π, laureate head right.
Rev. VΠ ΓAΛΛOV NIKOΠOΛITΩN / ΠPOC ICTP, Herakles standing left, holding with both hands head of running Cretan bull; club below, bow in exergue.

Rare. Very fine, hard green patina.

The reverse depicts the 7th labour of Herakles, the capture of the Cretan bull on which Europa had arrived in Crete (according to one version of the myth).
