eAuction #41, Lot 17. Estimate: CHF 200.00
Psophis, Arcadia. AR Trihemiobol (10 mm, 1.21 g), c. 460s/440s BC. Obv. The Keryneian Hind, with horns, running to right. Rev. Fish swimming transversely to right in dotted square in linear frame within an incuse square. Traité I 1246, pl. XXXVIII, 28 (same dies).
Extremely rare. Somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.
From the BCD collection and ex LHS 96 (2006), 1669.
A note from BCD: Most of the known Psophis fractions are obols, trihemiobols (showing the entire stag on the obverse) are extremely rare and practically never offered for sale.
