Side, Pamphylia. AR Tetradrachm (29 mm, 16.15 g), c. 200 BC. Carefully countermarked later by Seleucid authorities. Obv. Head of Athena wearing corinthian helmet right; on helmet, countermark anchor within incuse. Rev. Nike walking left, holding wreath in right hand; to left, pomegranate above monogram ΔIE. SNG Aulock 4785.
Very fine.
The anchor was the symbol of the Seleucids.
